Summer 2023-24 - Mixed Crops and a Builders work is never done...

As we transition into the vibrant Summer season here at Stretch Family Farms, I am thrilled to share some exciting updates with our community. On the agricultural front, we've planted micro crops of corn, watermelons, rockmelons, dill, and basil, all geared towards meeting the demands of the upcoming summer markets. It's a meticulous process, and we're committed to delivering the highest quality produce to our customers. Additionally, our recently lambed Stud Dorper Sheep are thriving and growing robustly, a testament to the care and attention we invest in our livestock.

In our commitment to sustainable and organic practices, we are introducing a range of organic nutrients to our crops throughout the summer. Through a process known as fertigation, we're incorporating on-farm brews such as Beneficial Anaerobic Microbes and Organic Teas. This holistic approach not only enhances the nutritional value of our produce but also supports moisture retention and nutrient enrichment in the soil. It's a step towards a more environmentally conscious and responsible farming model that we are proud to embrace at Stretch Family Farms.

One of the major milestones on our horizon is the imminent commencement of construction for our state-of-the-art Breeding Facility. This facility is not just a structure; it embodies our dedication to providing the best possible care for our animals. We believe that an environment tailored to their needs will empower them to reach their full genetic potential. It's a significant step forward for Stretch Family Farms, and we are eager to see the positive impact it will have on our operations and the well-being of our livestock.

Winter 2023 - Welcoming New Additions and Harvesting Nature's Bounty

Nestled amidst the breathtaking Glasshouse Mountains, our humble farm in Beerwah has recently witnessed an influx of new beginnings and abundant harvests. We have been blessed with the birth of Theodore "Teddy", the son of James and Nine, who arrived on the 8th of June, bringing immeasurable joy to our farm. Alongside Teddy's joyful arrival, we also welcomed Hugo, an energetic and eager Kelpie pup, our daily routines have become filled with excitement and companionship.

As the seasons transition into the vibrant hues of Winter, we find ourselves preparing for the upcoming Ginger harvest. The fertile soil and ample sunshine of the Sunshine Coast hinterland provide the perfect conditions for this spicy root crop to flourish. With each passing day, our anticipation grows, as we eagerly await the moment when we can begin reaping the rewards of our labor.

In the meantime, our farm continues to offer us sweet delights in the form of honey. With banksia blossoms and native bush blossoms gracing the landscape, our industrious bees have been tirelessly collecting nectar, resulting in a rich and delectable harvest. The golden hue and aromatic flavors of our honey have become a cherished staple in our kitchen, adding a touch of nature's sweetness to our meals and beverages.

The farm's tranquil surroundings, coupled with the harmonious coexistence of our four-legged friend, Hugo, and the adorable arrival of Teddy, have filled our days with immense happiness. The serene beauty of the Glasshouse Mountains serves as a constant reminder of the wonders of nature and the interconnectedness of life on our farm.

As we move forward, we embrace the challenges and joys that farm life brings. With each passing day, we are grateful for the bountiful harvests, the loyal companionship of our furry friends, and the cherished moments shared with loved ones. Life on the farm in Beerwah is a tapestry of nature's bounty, warmth, and love that continues to weave its way into our hearts.
